Great Tips For Maintaining Happy, Healthy Hair

As everyone knows, our hair is considered our ‘crowning glory’. We all dream about having shiny, soft, healthy hair; however, most of us are struggling with flat, dull, brittle, greasy hair. After reading this article, you will be equipped with all the information you need to have beautiful, shiny, healthy hair.

Avoid brushing your hair when it is wet. When your hair is wet, it is a lot more fragile and more likely to break. It is important that you both brush before washing your hair and after you dry your hair, to ensure that you do not cause breakage to your hair.

Refrain from using too many appliances on your hair to keep it strong and healthy. Using irons and dryers can damage the hair and then make it hard to stay away from frizz and damage. Periodically, don’t heat your hair and give it a rest!

Avoid overuse of your blow dryer. The heat from blow drying will severely damage hair; whenever possible, allow hair to dry naturally. If you must blow-dry your hair, keep the hair dryer on a cool setting and do not keep the dryer in the same spot for very long. You can dry your hair faster if you use a towel to dry before blowing it dry.

Read labels and choose hair care products that contain mostly natural ingredients. Use shampoos and conditioners made for your hair type. Try out different products until you’re happy with one.

Make sure you thoroughly but evenly add conditioner to your hair when you maintain it. Also, it is best you leave the conditioner in your hair for several minutes so it can soak in before rinsing out.

Harsh weather can damage the hair, so try not to expose your hair to intense heat or extreme cold for prolonged periods. Hair tends to dry out when it is exposed to cold weather, which causes the hair to lose some of its nutrients and oils it needs to stay healthy. Cover your head if you will be outside a while.

If you colored your hair, remember to wait forty eight hours before using a shampoo. Chemical treatment of the hair damages the cuticle, which needs time to repair itself so that the dye won’t wear off. The cuticle will open up again if any water is applied to the hair. This will reward you and your patience with hair that is shiny and healthy.

As you can now see, healthy hair isn’t as hard to achieve as you may have thought. Using these tips will have your hair shiny and manageable quicker than you think. Your dream head of hair is within your each if you take a little time and give your hair the care it deserves.
