Because these small muscles tire before the large ones, it is logical to work with dumbbells, barbells and other small weights before moving on to the larger machines. Keep a daily record of everything that you do. This includes every exercise, what you eat, and even what you drink. Even record the day’s weather. This way, you can reflect on highs, lows and obstacles you encounter. When you can’t exercise on a day, be sure to record why not.

Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in during workouts. If you do your workouts at a gym, you may feel pressure to wear fashionable workout gear, but try not to succumb to that pressure. You should only wear clothes you can comfortably move in and do exercises without embarrassment. If you wear the proper clothes for you, you won’t be distracted from your fitness routine by concern over your appearance.

When you are doing repetitious exercises that require you to count how many you’re doing, start at the number you want to achieve and count backwards. That way, you will know how many really remain, and you will stay motivated to complete them.

For every rep of weight lifts that you do, ensure your glutes are flexed. Your bottom receives an enhanced workout and your chance of injury is greatly reduced because you are better positioned. This will also help to stabilize your spine as you lift the weights.

To cut down on the damage that running can do, cut your running frequency down every six weeks to half your normal mileage for one week. Running less for this amount of time rejuvenates your body and avoids permanent damage.
