Do you find yourself looking at those with wonderful hair, dying to know their secret? You don’t have to be born with great hair–you just have to know how to get it. If you’d like to find out a few of the ways that these folks take care of their hair, and make it look great, simply read on.

If you frequently wear a ponytail, then adjust its height or length often. They do make soft scrunchies that minimize damage, but if you use the same hair to form the ponytail each time, it will break even with this precaution. When your job requires tying your hair back, make sure to give it a break when you are not working.

To maintain healthy and damage free hair, try not to brush when it’s still wet. Wet hair is much more fragile, and this makes it more susceptible to breakage. To reduce damage done while brushing, brush it before you wash it and then wait until it is fully dry before brushing it again.

You’ll want to eschew heavy conditioning products if your hair is particularly delicate or fine. They will only serve to weigh the hair down and make it appear thinner and finer. The best types of conditioners to use are the mousse or spray-on ones.

Ease up on small appliances that you when styling your hair in order to restore and strengthen its condition. Using irons and dryers can damage the hair and then make it hard to stay away from frizz and damage. Now and then, let your hair rest by avoiding heated tools.

If you value your hair, don’t use a blow dryer. Heat styling saps moisture from hair, leaving it dry and frizzy. Instead, wrap a towel around your hair until it is no longer wet. Your hair will then dry the natural way and it will not be frizzy.

The myth that getting your hair trimmed regularly makes it grow faster is false. Human hair grows approximately half an inch a month, no matter how much you cut it. You may see it grow a little faster in the summertime, or when you take supplements containing biotin, but that’s because there are hormones that contain growth. Trims can help with appearance, as they remove split ends.

Beautiful hair is not hard to get! Once you know hairdressing basics, you can have gorgeous hair, too. Use what you have just been taught to your advantage and you will get hair you have always dreamed of. People will soon start asking what you do to your hair.
